[Event Recap] Clinical Ethics Consultation Skills Workshop Malaysia 2026

On 1–2 July, our Centre Co-Director, Prof. Roger Chung, joined the 2nd Annual Clinical Ethics Consultation Skills Workshop in Malaysia 2026, organised by the Ethical Professional Practice Committee, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia, the Academy of Family Physicians of Malaysia, the Hospital Ethics Support Service of Hospital Ampang, and the Malaysian Oncological Society.

Prof. Chung delivered the keynote lecture, An Overview of End-of-Life Care and Advance Decision on Life-sustaining Treatment in Hong Kong, drawing on Hong Kong's legal and clinical frameworks to explore how advance directives shape end-of-life care.

Beyond the sessions, the workshop offered a valuable platform for cross-institutional exchange with distinguished colleagues from all over the world. We are grateful to the Organising Co-Chairs, Prof. Dr. Zilfalil Alwi and Dr. Hui Siu Tan, and to all partner institutions for fostering a collaborative environment. Special thanks to all fellow faculty for the stimulating discussions.

These gatherings are part of a long-standing dialogue across institutions – with each return, connections deepen and conversations evolve. The CUHK Centre for Bioethics looks forward to more exchanges ahead!

The CUHK Centre for Bioethics remains dedicated to fostering ethical awareness and responsible innovation, supporting both educators and learners as they navigate the shifting ethical dimensions of technological change.
