Dr. Chun Yan TSE

Research Associate (honorary), CUHK Centre for Bioethics

Dr. Tse Chun Yan graduated from the Medical School of the University of Hong Kong in 1973 and was Consultant and Head of Department of Medicine of United Christian Hospital from 1984. He took up hospital management in 1993 and was the Cluster Chief Executive (Kowloon East) of Hospital Authority before his retirement by the end of 2005. He has been involved in the drafting of clinical ethics guidelines on end-of-life decision-making of the Hospital Authority since 2001. He was Chairman of the Hospital Authority Clinical Ethics Committee from 2005 to 2017, and an advisor to the HA Task Force on AD legislation from 2019 to 2024. He had publications on clinical ethics as book chapters and articles in international journals. He is currently an honorary advisor of the Hong Kong Society of Palliative Medicine.

He is also a guqin performer, composer and scholar on Chinese music. He obtained his PhD in ethnomusicology from CUHK in 2009.
