[Event Recap] Research Talk hosted by the Centre for Media and Communication Research at the Hong Kong Baptist University

We are pleased that our Co-Director, Professor Roger Chung, was invited by Professor Jingyuan Jolie Shi to serve as a guest speaker at the Research Talk hosted by the Centre for Media and Communication Research at the Hong Kong Baptist University, on March 24, 2026.

Delivering a talk titled Beyond Healthcare: Addressing the Social Determinants for Health Equity, Professor Chung elaborated on how social factors—including income disparity, housing conditions, and educational access—exert a more profound influence on health outcomes than clinical care alone, drawing on his diverse academic and professional roles.

The session provided a platform for in-depth engagement with HKBU’s faculty, students, and fellow academics, fostering a meaningful dialogue on shifting the focus from illness treatment toward the foundational conditions necessary for health equity. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Centre for Media and Communication Research at HKBU for the kind invitation, as well as to all participants who contributed to the insightful discussion.

The CUHK Centre for Bioethics remains committed to facilitating academic exchange that bridges research, practice, and community outreach, advancing our collective pursuit of greater health equity.
