[Event Recap] Prof. Roger Chung chairs WCB | T010 | Concurrent Session 9
On 10 July 2026, the final day of the 18th World Congress of Bioethics (WCB) 2026, our Centre Co‑Director Prof. Roger Chung took the chair for a session that brought together voices from Sweden, South Africa, and Kenya on some of the most pressing issues in health policy and practice.
The session featured:
▸ Prof. Christian Munthe (University of Gothenburg) – "The goals of forensic psychiatric care: an analytical model for normative and descriptive ethics and practice"
▸ Dr. Howard Snoyman (Discovery Health Medical Scheme, Discovery Limited) – "A Utilitarian Critique of South Africa's (impending) National Health Insurance scheme"
▸ Dr. Mercury Shitindo (Africa Bioethics Network) – "Between Hope and Inequity: Ethical Reflections on Assisted Reproductive Technologies in Sub-Saharan Africa"
The exchange was notably rich – spanning mental health ethics, healthcare sustainability, reproductive justice, and health policy reform.
