[Event Recap] Universiti Malaya Lunchtime Seminar

On 1 July, our Centre Co-Director, Prof. Roger Chung, was invited to give a presentation for the lunchtime seminar of the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, alongside Dr. Rebecca Brendel (Director of Harvard Medical School Center for Bioethics), with an open ethical discussion following the talks.

Prof. Chung spoke on The Principles of Justice – Understanding Health Equity and Social Determinants of Health, exploring how systemic inequities shape health outcomes and why a justice-based approach is essential for fairer clinical practice and policy.

Thank you to Universiti Malaya, the organising team, and especially Assoc. Professor Dr. Azanna Ahmad Kamar (Head of the Department of Paediatrics) for bringing this conversation together – a powerful reminder that bioethics is about more than clinical cases, and equally about justice and the systems that shape access to care.

This is another stop on an expanding map of exchanges. The CUHK Centre for Bioethics looks forward to connecting institutions, ideas, and people – wherever they may be.

The CUHK Centre for Bioethics remains dedicated to fostering ethical awareness and responsible innovation, supporting both educators and learners as they navigate the shifting ethical dimensions of technological change.
