Ann Sin-Nga Lau, PhD is currently the Assistant Dean (Education) of the Faculty of Medicine, a Principal Lecturer and Associate Director (Undergraduate Education) in the School of Biomedical Sciences of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Director of BSc in Biomedical Sciences Programme. She received her BSc (Biology) and PhD (Molecular Endocrinology) from The University of Hong Kong, with her doctoral training at Population Council, Centre for Biomedical Research (CBR) in Rockefeller University with research focusing on Sertoli-germ cell interactions and cell trafficking.

Dr. Lau is honoured to be part of the pioneering teaching team of the MBChB bioethics curriculum. Through education, engagement, and discussions, she hopes to increase the students’ and eventually the public awareness of the ethical challenges in face of biotechnological and medical advancement. Apart from Bioethics, Ann has a broad teaching interest ranging from biochemistry, endocrinology, reproductive biology, human genetics, to biotechnology. She is experienced in curriculum development and had developed a wide range of courses including Faculty Package, undergraduate courses for Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy, and Biomedical Engineering Programmes. She is the Group Leader of CUHK eLearning Community of Practice on virtual reality (VR) as emerging education technology, the PI and Co-I of projects including the development of VR- and animation-based courseware, peer-assisted learning, and interprofessional education. She is the recipient of the Faculty of Medicine Education Award 2019.
