[Event Recap] HKU SPACE Academic Conference on AI and Education 2026

We are pleased to share that our Centre Co-Director, Dr. Ann Lau, was invited as a keynote speaker at the Academic Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Education: Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary Perspectives, organised by HKU SPACE on 5 June 2026.

Dr. Lau delivered her keynote presentation during Panel 18: AI and Emerging Technologies in Education: Pedagogical Innovation and Ethical Perspectives. Chaired by Dr. Minerva Li (HKU SPACE), the panel brought together educators and researchers to explore the intersection of AI, pedagogy, and ethics.

Drawing on her work leading the “Artificial Intelligence in/as Medical Education” project, Dr. Lau offered a thoughtful reflection on the ethical challenges of integrating AI into educational settings, calling for a principle-based framework that places human dignity and pedagogical integrity at the centre of technological adoption.

We extend our gratitude to HKU SPACE for organising this interdisciplinary platform, and to all participants who contributed to the vibrant discussion. Your engagement inspires us to continue bridging ethical theory with educational practice.

The CUHK Centre for Bioethics remains dedicated to fostering ethical awareness and responsible innovation, supporting both educators and learners as they navigate the shifting ethical dimensions of technological change.
