Prof. CHUNG Chi Ho Vincent

Professor CHUNG Chung Chi Ho Vincent is currently Associate Professor in the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He completed his MSc in Evidence based Healthcare in Oxford University. He studied his PhD in Public Health at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, focusing on health services research. He is currently an International Health Policy Fellow of the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), and he has completed a Hong Kong Health and Medical Research Fund Research Fellowship (2019-2021). His research interests are in the intersection between evidence-based healthcare, health policy and implementation science. He has published more than 140 articles in international peer-reviewed academic journals and ranked as the 2% top-cited scientists worldwide in 2021 according to the updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators.

 

Expected impact of the Fellowship
The Artificial Intelligence Code of Conduct (AICC) is a pivotal initiative of the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), with the goals of developing a framework that advances AI governance interoperability to ensure that AI algorithms and their application in health, health care, and biomedical science perform accurately, safely, reliably, and ethically in the service of better health for all.

 

As an International Health Policy Fellow of the AICC initiative, Prof. Chung has been involved conducting a systematic review for supporting the development of a comprehensive code of conduct for AI use in health care. This review will include peer – reviewed publications and guidelines developed by professional bodies / specialty societies bodies / specialty societies on responsible AI use in healthcare published between 2018-2023.

 

Using best-fit framework analysis approach, Prof. Chung will map synthesized recommendations using the SHIFT (Sustainability, Human centeredness, Inclusiveness, Fairness, and Transparency) framework. This framework serves as a starting point for synthesizing recommendations from latest publication and guidance, forming the foundation for an AI code of conduct in healthcare. Prof. Chung will also Identify areas with less/no recommendations, of which new recommendations to address these less developed issues could be formulated.
