Program Overview
The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) is a leading independent advisory group on health policy in the United States and around the world. Its first-ever International Health Policy Fellowship Program, in collaboration with the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Centre for Bioethics, aims to train and nurture global health policy scholars to put forth informed solutions to some of the most critical health challenges facing the world today and in the future. The Cheng-Dzau NAM-CUHK International Policy Fellowship Program provides opportunity for early- to mid-career scholars in the fields of bioethics, medical ethics and law, economics and health policy, and healthcare to experience and participate in healthcare or public health studies that improve the care and access to care of patients in domestic and global health care systems.
The fellowship will be awarded for a two-year period with a 25%-time residency in Washington, D.C. Fellows are expected to maintain their current faculty position and responsibilities while being assigned to the Fellowship. Initially, the fellow will spend a concentrated three-month period at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to learn about the National Academies activities. Details of the program arrangement are outlined in the Information Sheet on the Cheng-Dzau NAM-CUHK International Policy Fellowship Program.
