It is with great pleasure to share that we celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the CUHK Centre for Bioethics with our Symposium themed “Science, Medicine, and Beyond: Connecting the Global Communities with Bioethics,” on 21 February 2025. This symposium was a resounding success, bringing together esteemed speakers, experts and professionals in the field to engage in meaningful and in-depth discussions.

A ceremonial session featuring inspiring leadership and keynote addresses from distinguished speakers, including Mr. David Roscoe, Prof. Nancy Jecker and Prof. Vardit Ravitsky, took place during the morning session of the Symposium.

In the afternoon, the 7th Lanson Lecture in Bioethics, delivered by Prof. Bonnie Steinbock, commentaries by the Honorable Mr. Justice Johnson MH Lam (read by Prof. Roger Chung), Dr. Derrick Au, and Prof. Paul Weithman, ignited important conversations about physician-assisted dying and its implications.

The engaging Q&A sessions provided a platform for dynamic interactions between speakers and participants, fostering a collaborative environment for shared learning.

Our Centre would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the participants, speakers, and partners for their active involvement and unwavering support. Your contributions have made this event a remarkable success!

As we look back on the past decade of the Centre’s growth and achievements, we are also looking forward to continuing our mission over the next decade! We are committed to advancing our research, education, and public engagement in bioethics, and we hope to continue this journey of exploration and discovery with all of you!
